THE HOLY COVENANT
OF OUR LADY OF THE LIGHT
My mother dropped me
and as my feet touched the ground
I made a vow
to never put my faith
in human hands again
I slipped though the cracks
and fell into the night
and there
in the darkness
I beheld an angel of light:
Her heavenly body;
silent as a star.
We kiss with open mouths
Exchanging wedding vows:
"Darkness for light
sadness for delight
death for everlasting life"
And in the night,
a shooting star
cuts the sky like a scar.
